What the Better Animals Plus mod does
Better Animals Plus is the cybercat5555 mod that turns Minecraft's tiny four-mob wildlife roster (cow, pig, sheep, chicken) into a proper animal kingdom. It adds deer, boars, coyotes, black bears, brown bears, mountain lions, foxes, badgers, sharks, whales, turtles, crabs and about twenty other realistic mobs. Every mob has proper AI, deer flee from predators, boars charge, bears attack when cubs are threatened, wolves hunt in packs.
The mod stays close to vanilla art style, no exotic biomes or cartoon-styled mobs. Every animal fits into an existing vanilla biome, deer in taigas, boars in plains, sharks in oceans, so the mod slots into any world without feeling foreign.
It is bundled in the Better Minecraft modpack. Standalone install below.

Realistic AI
Deer flee predators, boars charge when cornered, bears defend cubs, wolves hunt in packs. Every mob has appropriate schooling, breeding and threat behaviour.
Biome-appropriate spawning
Deer spawn in taigas and forests, boars in plains, sharks in warm oceans, whales in deep cold oceans. Fits into any world without breaking biome identity.
Real predator-prey
Mountain lions hunt deer, wolves hunt boars, sharks hunt fish. Ecosystems play out without player intervention.
Craftable animal products
Deer antlers, boar tusks, bear pelts, shark teeth. Every unique drop has recipes, deer antlers craft into knives, bear pelts craft into armor.

Drop the jar into the mods folder. Install Fabric API on Fabric builds.

Launch and load a world. New animals spawn in newly-loaded chunks over time, existing chunks may need a night-cycle for spawns to populate.

Better Animals Plus FAQ
Do new animals replace vanilla animals?
No. Better Animals Plus is additive, vanilla cows, pigs, sheep and chickens still spawn as before. New animals spawn alongside them.
Are the animals hostile?
Depends on the species. Deer, foxes and turtles are peaceful. Boars, bears and mountain lions become hostile when threatened or when cubs are nearby.
Can I tame them?
Foxes and coyotes can be tamed with rabbit stew. Bears can be raised from cubs but not tamed. Other animals are wild only.
Do sharks and whales despawn?
Sharks despawn like vanilla hostile mobs. Whales are persistent, they behave more like vanilla dolphins.
